Please be advised that we have an RCNZ member gone done with a possible outbreak of RCD, they are sure it has been brought back onto their property by vistors from the Himatangi area in the manawatu, the outbreak has struck between stratford and Taumarunui area.

Hi all,
I want to inform everyone we ( Lindsay , Missy & Sarah of Valdemar Rabbit Stud ) have been hit with RCD, although not confirmed by vet autopsy we have lost 19 rabbits since yesterday ( Sunday ). I do my own autopys and the signs are there. We are now in quarantine and I will start my 110 day count when I'm sure the virus has run its course. I will post on here when my count starts.
I want to wish everyone the best of luck for the up coming shows especially those of you who have bred for the Nationals, If some kind person will put up show results on this site or email me privately I would really appreciate It.
I may be out of action for awhile but I will be back.

This is bad news and I am very sorry to hear it. But good to see you are not going to give up on the bunnies. Hope to see you back when it's over.I don't know a lot of breeders by their names so can you tell me what bunnies do you show so I can maybe put a face with the name.

thanks lindsay, that would make your loss,s even worse , all my rabbits that can be are vacc , but by the sound of it i have probably wasted a lot of money if the vacc is not going to protect them , have you asked a vet about it , especially the ones that were done just three months ago.

The vet I usually deal with is away at the mo and is from a different clinic, I've had to deal with the local vets and not getting a lot of joy with them as I didn't deal through them for the vaccine, They did remind me that the vaccine is only 90% effective and in regards to the 4 that were done 3 months ago one arrogant prick actually said at least I still have 6 alive that were done with the other 4, that means the vaccine is working and the 4 dead must have had something else wrong with them. He was a very lucky man we were talking by phone and not face to face.

Hi Sarah,
I hope I'm not speaking too soon but today is day 8 of no deaths, all remaining rabbits are bouncing as per normal although this may not mean much as all rabbits were bouncing and happy before and during the outbreak!!!!
